IIPA organizes two days leadership programme on “Developing High Performance Mindset in Public Service”

Jammu, Aug 29: Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch organized two days Leadership Programme on “Developing High Performance Mindset in Public Service” for Middle and Senior Level officers of Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
Raj Kumar Goyal, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Home Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir in his valedictory address said that officers while serving at any position should aim at bringing in systematic improvements which positively enhances the lives of a common citizen. He urged upon the officers to enhance their area of influence, think innovatively and consistently improve their performance.
Dr. Ashok Bhan, IPS (Retd), Former DGP & Commissioner of Vigilance, also the Patron of IIPA JKRB in his inaugural address on “Citizen Centric Governance” said that citizen is the premier stake holder of Governance and should play active role in sharing their expectations. He was of the view that equitability and inclusiveness of Governance should be aimed towards the citizens. He urged upon the participants to reflect upon their decisions on a continuous basis and ensure that the decision is in public interest & has been taken in consultation with the community without any fear or favour.
B R Sharma, IAS (Retd), Former Secretary, Government of India; Chief Secretary, Government of J&K also the Chairman of IIPA JKRB in his address while discussing the motto of Indian Administrative Service, he referred to’, and said that essence of a public servant is to develop an acumen of empathizing with a common man and solve social issues for effective governance. He further said that technological interventions in governance will bring in transformation changes in promoting collaborative governance, and the officers should enhance their capacities to be relevant in the digital era.
Dr. Piyush Singla, Administrative Secretary, General Administrative Department, Government of Jammu & Kashmir appreciated the initiative of IIPA JKRB in conceptualizing the program in line with the vision of Government of India to build competencies of Civil Servants under the “Mission Karamyogi,” He said that every decision taken by an officer should be evaluated through the SWOT prism and the future lies in role based governance.
Manjot S Gill, Chief Business Officer, Mind Bridge Professional Consultants Pvt Ltd and Prof Charru Malhotra, (e-Governance and ICT), Lead Coordinator (Centre of e-Governance) IIPA, New Delhi were the key resource persons. They engaged the participants using innovative pedagogy of role plays, activity based learning, case studies to drive upon the key aspects of developing high performance mindset through strategic thinking & collaborative governance in building up a New & Digital Bharat. K B Jandial, IAS (Retd), Director (Seminars) presented the formal welcome address while Prof Alka Sharma, Hony Secretary and Dr. Anil Gupta, Joint Secretary, IIPA JKRB coordinated the programme. The participants of the rank of Secretary, Additional Secretary, Joint Director, Deputy Secretary, Deputy Director etc. from over 20 different departments were nominated by GAD, Government of Jammu & Kashmir. In addition to the participants the programme was attended by Sh. Kuldeep Khoda, IPS (Retd), Er. J B S Johar, Prem Gupta, IPS (Retd), M M Gupta, Vikrant Kuthiala, Col. Karan Singh in addition to other members of IIPA, JKRB.
