| 16 Corps Eng. Signal regiment celebrates 60th Raising Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 13: The 16 Corps Engineering Signal Regiment celebrated its 60th Raising Day with grand fervour here today.
The Regiment was raised at Agra on December 14, 1948. With its changing roles, the Regiment is known by various names like Y Line of Control Signal Regiment. Y communication Zone Signal Regiment, 374 Signal Regiment and finally in 1982 16 Corps Engineering Signal Regiment. The Regiment provided infallible communication support during both Indo- Pak wars, Operation Vijay’ and ‘Operation Parakram’.
On July 20 last year the Regiment created history by implementing the first ever Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) based Mobile Communication Cellular Network in the 16 Corps Zone and is proudly famous in the Corps of Signals as ‘Pioneer in mobile communications’.
The raising day celebrations were marked with the presence of previous Commanding Officers, Subedar Majors and other ranks of the regiment. Various functions organized on the occasion included Mandir Programme followed by ‘Barakhana’ and Pagal Gymkhana. |
