| Peoples trust Congress policies: Chib | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT BHADERWAH, Dec 13: The Congress party is all set to win majority of seats and form stable government on its own in the state as the people have fully realized that it is the only party which can deliver on the ground and provide the much needed succor to the people, particularly those living in far flung and are remote areas of the state. Senior congress leaders who are on whirlwind election campaigning in Doda district addressed over a dozen election rallies during the last two days in favour of party candidates seeking votes on the pro-people politics and remarkable achievements of the congress led government during its two and half years rule. Addressing mammoth gatherings at several places in Bhaderwah constituency, where former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is seeking re-election, senior congress leader and MLC, R.S Chib said that satisfied with the performance of the Azad led government and pro-people policies of the congress, the people have reposed faith on the party leadership and decided to make the party victorious in the ongoing elections. He said that the party does not believe in hollow promises and emotive slogans maintaining that whatever promises were made during the 2002 elections have not only be fulfilled but the party has gone much ahead of it and in this connection referred the creation of four more districts in Jammu region against only two recommended by the Wazir Commission, besides creating three sub divisions and 12 tehsils. He said that it was only the congress party that implemented the Commission report while as the successive governments in the state had relegated the Commission recommendations to the background for their petty political and communal considerations. Former minister B.R Kundal, who also addressed the gathering, reminded the people about the people oriented policies of the UPA government and said that it was the Congress government that took a revolutionary and far reaching initiative of waiving off Rs. 72000 crore benefiting nearly four crore farmers across the country. Prof. Hari Om who spoke on the occasion took BJP, NC and PDP to task for their politics of emotional blackmail and said that formation on the congress government in a state like Jammu and Kashmir is a national requirement as the nation cannot afford a government of parties which demand autonomy or self rule and which are out to vitiate the state’s peaceful atmosphere by raking up emotive and divisive issues. |
