Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 4: A monthly meeting of Jammu Kashmir Teachers' Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) held at Udhampur under the leadership of UT President Vinod Sharma.
The meeting was attended by the zonal presidents and executive members of JKTJAC from all the eleven zones.
While speaking on the occasion Mr Vinod Sharma demanded the Inclusion of teachers appointed under ReT scheme in Transfer policy as they have been working in the same schools for last more than 20 years.
He said that though these teachers appointed under ReT scheme were transferred under different Government orders and on the orders of competent authority but the department in July issued order of repatriation and forced these teachers to go to CAT for justice.
"Even the honourable High court has upheld the transfer order in 2018 and CAT has also endorsed the same by saying that stagnation of teachers minimizes their talent but still they are not considered for transfer " he said.
He appealed the LG administration and Principal Secretary School Education to intervene in the matter and frame a comprehensive transfer policy in favour of teachers appointed under ReT scheme and revoke the impugned order of repatriation for the welfare of thousands of teachers appointed under ReT scheme who have been working in far flung areas and raising the literacy rate by enhancing the enrollment of students and minimising the drop out rate.
He also appealed the government to resolve the issue of inclusion of 5 years ReT period for seniority benefits by favouring the case in the court.
Other demands raised included, rationalisation of teaching staff to overcome the uneven pupil teacher ratio; freeing teachers from all sorts of non teaching assignments to make them accountable of their job, sanction of posts of masters in SSA upgraded middle schools, DPC of teachers to masters as same is pending since 2014, old pension scheme in favour of NPS employees of the UT.
He also appealed the Director school education Jammu to regularise the left out ReTs and convert the regularised RRETs to teachers Grade II/III so that they may get their salaries.
Meanwhile District Executive body of JKTJAC appealed Chief Education Officer Udhampur to intervene personally in the matter of Zone Ghordi where teachers including (KGBV )are harassed on one pretext or the other and their salaries witheld on petty issues, other wise they will be forced to gherao ZEO office Ghordi after one week and for this the concerned officers and officials of the zone would be responsible.
