'Teachers Should Be Role Models': DC Poonch

Poonch, Sept 5: Teachers’ Day, the birth anniversary of Dr Saravpalli Radhakrishnan, former President of India and a great educationist, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in various schools across the Poonch district.
The main function was organized at Boys HSS Poonch where Inder Jeet, Deputy Commissioner Poonch was the chief guest, where as Dr. Madan Lal Sharma, Principal DIET Poonch was the guest of honor. The program was presided over by Sh. Bishamber Dass, CEO Poonch. 32 teachers were felicitated on the occasion. The program began with the National Anthem followed by lightening of the traditional lamp by the Chief Guest.
Narinder Mohan Suri, DEPO Poonch read the welcome address and highlighted the activities of the education department in Poonch district. Congratulating the Teachers, Inder Jeet, Deputy Commissioner Poonch said, “Teachers are the best minds in the country who cannot be compared with anyone else and they should act as the role models for the students and should also help them to become good citizens.”
He said, “undoubtedly the teachers have been assigned lot of assignments and they are doing them wonderfully, but their basic task is to provide quality education to over One Lakh fifty thousand students from over One lakh household in the Poonch district”
He asked the teachers community to become ideal Teachers that would be the real tribute to Dr Saravpalli Radhakrishnan. Bishamber Dass, CEO Poonch in his address congratulated the Teachers and asked them to devote their school time fully for the students, and do not indulge in other activities which do not suit to the Teaching profession, so that the expected outcome be achieved.
He said, “Teaching is a pious job and we need to do justice with the job and this is the right day to take a pledge that we would devote our precious time for the students and will achieve excellence in imparting quality in government schools”.
