| Panjbakhtar temple Mahant’s bail plea rejected | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec13-The 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu Sanjay Gupta today rejected the bail application of Mahant Prabodh Anand Bairaggi involved in mismanagement of property of Panchbakhtar temple. While contesting the bail application Additional Public Prosecutor GS Charak submitted that the accused has committed an offence in which crores of rupees are involved and the main accused Ashok Kumar Jogi is still absconding and police is hunting for him. He further submitted that according to the police case the said Mahant has no permanent address, if granted bail, he may jump the bail. Charak further submitted that police is investigating the case as there are allegations that he has misappropriated Rs more than 88 lakhs while some documents recovered reveal that the accused has given lakhs of rupees as loan to some persons. The 3rd Additional Sessions Judge after hearing the arguments on both the sides observed that the case is already pending with the High Court. The act of Mahant has hurt the religious sentiments of devotees so at this stage the bail application is dismissed and rejected. JNF = |
