| Surankote residents hail SDPO | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 7: Residents of Surankote have hailed the role played by SDPO, Tanveer Jeelani, in eradicating drug mafia and other social crimes from his jurisdiction. Residents said, 'Since the day Jeelani has taken over the charge he has been doing a commendable job. Under his supervision several notorious drug peddlers have been arrested and FIRs have been lodged against them. We appreciate his efforts." They said, "Jeelani's efforts are helping fighting substance abuse in Surankote. He is acting tough against the drug mafia" They said, "Nearly 90 accused have been arrested during Jeelani's tenure. Around 70 vehicles ferrying bovines have been seized and around 600 bovines have been rescued. Ten FIRs stand registered against drug peddlers and 15 have been arrested till date." "Besides acting tough against the drug mafia, Jeelani has acted sternly against the persons involved in illegal mining. The accused have been fined and four FIRs stand registered against illegal miners." Meanwhile, civil society has been holding camps at different places in order to create awareness about the ill effects of drug addiction. |
