DC Reasi inaugurates Aashiyana Senior Citizens Home under Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojna at Seela

REASI, Sept 8: Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Babila Rakwal today Inaugurated 50 Bedded Aashiyana Senior Citizens Home in Seela Reasi established by Public Peace & Development Foundation (NGO) and sponsored by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and supported by Department of Social Welfare, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, here on Thursday.
The District Reasi became the First District of UT J&K to Inaugurate and Public Peace and Development Foundation became the first NGO to Establish the Senior Citizen Home in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir under Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojna (AVYAY) Scheme.
Pallvi Sharma, District Social Welfare Officer Reasi, Rajinder Kumar Digra, District Information Officer Udhampur & Reasi and Muzaffar Khawaja, Chief functionary Public Peace and Development Foundation were present at the inaugural Ceremony
During the ceremony, Muzaffar Khawaja, Chief Functionary (NGO) said "Our NGO will take care of the elderly persons who have attained the age of 60 years and have none as their own and help them to lead a dignified life".
While discussing the objective of foundation with Deputy Commissioner, he briefed that the Senior Citizens will have access to free Accommodation, Food, Dwelling, Cloths, Bedding, TV, Radio, Books, Recreation, Health and Yoga with many more facilities will be made available to all the elderly inmates.
Moreover, recreational activities such as Gardening and round Table discussions, story- telling and ample sitting Space have been set up to interact with each other to cherish their togetherness.
