Webinar on Suicide Attempts: A Serious Concern held at GLDM GDC Hiranagar

Jammu, Sept 10: Literary Club GLDM GDC Hiranagar held a webinar on the topic “Suicide Attempts: A Serious Concern”. The programme was organized in collaboration with IQAC. The programme was presided over by Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal of the College. Dr. Davinder Kour, Head Department of Education and Member Secretary IQAC began the programme by presenting a formal welcome address of the resource person Dr. Abhishek Chowhan Consultant, and Incharge De-addiction Centre, GMC Jammu. Dr. Abhishek Chowhan in his address said that suicide is a major concern for entire humanity. He further added that thoughts of suicide could be understood by a number of factors such as Substance Use, Increased or excessive alcohol/drug use, thoughts of Purposelessness, Anxiety, Trapped that is the feeling as though there is no way out, hopelessness withdrawal, Anger, Recklessness and Mood Changes.
The programme was attended by members of Inner Wheels Members Dr Santosh Gupta Chairman, Mrs Paramjeet Kour, President, Mrs Gurvinder Kour secretary, staff members and students of the college. Those who attended the programme included Prof. Shujat, Prof. Parveen, Prof. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Prof. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Arun Kumar, Dr. Usha Rani, Dr. Jyoti rani, Prof. Neha Bhagat, Prof. Neeru Anand, Dr. Arun Kumar, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Prof. Reetika and many more. At the end the formal vote of thanks were presented by Prof. Rakesh Sharma HOD Hindi. The Programme was held under the convenorship of Prof. Shujat Khan, Head Department of Computer Sciences and coordinator IQAC and under the guidance and patronship of Dr. Pragya Khanna Principal of the College.
