Army organises dangal competition at Bhaderwah, Doda

JAMMU, Sept 12: As a part of ongoing process of Winning Hearts and Minds of the Awam population, the Indian Army has been constantly undertaking a variety of projects for welfare and motivation of the Awam populace. Indian Army organised a Dangal Competition at Sewa, Gosti. Village Sewa is located in the remote part of Doda district which lack adequate recreational and sporting facilities for the youth. Due to steady decline in insurgency and prevailing peace, the local youth now are looking forward to participate in sports activities and leisure activities as it binds them together irrespective of their religion. It is imperative that youth be engaged in constructive activities to wean them away from separatist ideology and firmly brought in to the national mainstream through sporting activities. Organising 'Dangal' competition for youth of Sewa will help to win the goodwill of the locals and promote sports in the region and youth empowerment. A total of 48 wrestlers from Tehsil Bhela, Fagsu, Chirala, Jora Kund, Jora Kalan participated in the tournament. The bouts were played as per existing rules on knockout basis. All the wrestlers participated with their true spirit of sportsmanship and displayed commendable skills and enthusiasm. Strength of approximately more than 920 persons witnessed the event from several adjoining villages and township, the local youth were especially enthralled to see the sporting prowess displayed by the renowned wrestlers. The event was graced by Mr Manhori Lal, DDC Candidate, Chirala, Gulshan Kumar, Tehsildar, Chirala, Rakesh Charak, Ex Sarpanch, Chirala. The chief guest said that it was a great initiative taken by the Indian Army, Bhaderwah to promote sports in the region and will surely motivate the local youth to participate in sports at various level. The engagement of youth in these kinds of constructive physical activities will do a good for their overall growth and their energy will be utilized in right direction which in turn will contribute in building the Nation.
