| BJP represents ideology of strong nationalism: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec14: BJP represented an ideology of strong nationalism and has always remained in forefront at any testing time said former union minister and party candidate from Jammu West constituency Prof Chaman LaL Gupta. The party believes in close ties between Jammu Kashmir and rest of India, he added. Addressing election meetings at Rehari, Nitco Lane, Subhahnagar, Janipura and other places in Jammu West Assembly constituency Prof. Gupta recalled that right from very beginning after the sad communal partition of India, the Congress leadership fumbled and bungled in Jammu and Kashmir. To appease communalism of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru granted a separate status to Jammu Kashmir despite opposition by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and other nationalists including Moulana Mohani. This separate status has led to the voices of secessionism coupled with terrorism, he added and observed that the history has proved that Nehru and Sheikh were on the wrong and Dr. Mukherjee and Pandit Prem Nath Dogra were on the right. He said the problems of refugees and displaced persons still persisted by the communal mindset of the Congress, National Conference and their allies. The discrimination against Jammu was also the result of this deceased mind of communal elements. All these evils could be fought out by the unity amongst the nationalists. Referring to the plight of the link roads, drains and sewerage etc., Prof. Gupta said all this exposes the hollow claims of the Congress leaders about the development, progress and prosperity. The missing of basic amenities like that of electricity, drinking water and awful conditions prevailing in the government educational institutions well indicate that what sort of progress and prosperity the Congress, PDP and National Conference have brought during their rule of so many years even after massive financial assistance from the Centre, he added and said their slogans of socialism were how much misleading could be well judged from the fact that Ghulam Nabi Azad government enhanced the salaries of their Ministers and other politicians from Rs. 12000 to over Rs. 43000 per month but during their tenure no increase was made in the emoluments of Daily Wagers and they were still being paid at the rate of Rs. 70 a day. |
