JKSPYM organises workshop

JAMMU, Sept 15: One-day workshop was organized by JKSPYM State Level Coordinating Agency today at GGM Science College on "Drug Abuse & Preventive Measures" in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India. Awareness program was organized to aware students and staff of the college about the Nasha Mukt J&K Campaign and to impart knowledge of drugs and drug addiction. Resource persons were from JKSPYM organization. Around 60 students took part in the program. Dr. Narinder Kumar, Coordinator NSS, Dr. Davinder Sharma, ANO NCC, Dr. Anjana Sharma, ANO NCC were also present to grace the occasion.
Program initiated with the introduction of State Level Coordinating Agency and JKSPYM organization by Ms. Kimi Padhiar, SLCA official. Program started with the interaction session and resource person asked students who is peer and what is peer pressure. Students actively participated in the interaction session. Then, resource person briefly discussed the concept of peer pressure and how peer pressure directly or indirectly effects the life of a teenager. Then, second resource person briefly described the drugs and concept of drug addiction with the help of PowerPoint Presentation. She discussed the different types of drugs, preventive measures and the treatment process. She educated the participants about the long- and short-term effects of different types of drugs on body, mind, career and family. She further added that drug addiction is not only confined to body, mind and career but it is also illegal to consume it.
At the end of the program, Prof. Narinder Kumar, Coordinator NSS appreciated the efforts of SLCA J&K Team for visiting GGM Science College and conducting the program and for awaring the students and staff of the college. Program concluded with the vote of thanks by Kimi Padhiar, SLCA official and SLCA team included Deepak Bhati and Ankush Gupta. After the program, refreshment and pamphlets were distributed among all the participants present on the occasion.
