12/16/2008 9:28:41 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 16: Addressing elections rallies at Ramban and Banihal and election meetings at Bathan, Rajgarh, Charota and Chil in the Ramban assembly constituency, former Cabinetr Minister and Congress Election Campaign Committee (CECC) member B R Kundal took to task the earlier dispensations for neglecting the people of this area and appealed to the people to return to the assembly the Congress candidate Master Ashok. As per a release, he said Ramban should have been brought on the tourist map by connecting its scenic valleys and ridges with roads and assured the people that the Congress, if returned to power, would not only promote tourism in this area, but would also open adequate number of schools and hospitals in the villages which do not have these basic facilities even after 62 years and electrify all those villages which have no such facility. Former Cabinet Minister and MLC, R S Chib and Prof. Hari Om also addressed these massive rallies and expressed concern over the miserable plight of the people inhabiting these far-flung areas. Lambasting those who represented this constituency for years for their utter disregard for the needs and compulsions of the people of these areas, Chib said that the Ghulam Nabi Azad – led government has proved its pro-people credentials by undertaking developmental activities on an unprecedented scale in a short span in these areas. Addressing all these election rallies and public meetings, Prof. Hari Om regretted that the parties like the BJP and the National Conference have no specific agenda for the people and accused them on unleashing a negative campaign to mislead the people for petty vote-banks politics, the release added.
