| National leaders chill out in Jammu winters | | | EarlY Times Report Jammu, Dec16- Senior BJP and Congress leaders managed to draw appreciable crowds to their election rallies today in the districts and Jammu and Samba, besides Akhnoor subdivision despite rain and chill. Except for Bishnah where Gujarat Chief Minister, Narender Modi addressed a gathering of over 5,000, in other rallies addressed by BJP Chief, Rajnath Singh and senior Congress leader and Union Minister ,S.K.Shinde, the attendance was below expectations and that too because of adverse weather conditions. In Bishnah people heard with rapt attention to Narender Modi who spoke for 25 minutes despite heavy showers. In all these rallies people were seen shivering but did not let down their political heroes. At couple of places the rally organizers had to cut short the programme because of rain and chill. The only thing that kept people slightly warm was the slogans they raised. On one side it was BJP Zindabad on the other it was Sonia Gandhi Zindabad. Near the venue of the rallies people had burnt faggots to keep themselves warm. Against this the weather remained dry in Kashmir with sun peeping behind clouds intermittently. External Affairs Minister, Pranabh Mukherjee, was in Srinagar could not address any election rally. Besides, holding a press conference he interacted with the Congress leaders and workers with whom he exchanged notes. The PCC Chief and Union Minister for Water Resources, Saif-ud-Din Soz, escorted Mukherjee to the press meet and was present when the External Affairs Minister interacted with the Congress leaders and workers
