Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 30: The Department of Anesthesia and Critical Medicine, Government Medical College Jammu is going to start a Basic Resuscitation Course for the staff members of GMC Jammu and Associated Hospitals. The main aim of this course is to train the faculty members, Residents, Post-Graduates and Paramedical/Nursing Staff to handle the situation professionally in saving many precious lives in critical time. It is on par with the Basic Life Support Course which is run by American Heart Association.
The course will be inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu on Saturday and will be conducted on 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month at National Emergency Life Support (NELS) Skill Lab of GMC Jammu. It is mandatory for every staff member to join the course.
This Course will enable the participants to recognize life-threatening situations like cardiac arrest, near-drowning incidents, suffocation, or any in which a person is not breathing.
Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu said that the need to learn Basic Resuscitation Skill is of utmost importance as this basic skill can be life-saving in the time of need. Sudden cardiac arrest like situations is one such condition which can lead to the sudden death of a person and most of the incidents happen outside the hospital and in many instances the person loses his life before Medical Help arrives. That is why Basic Resuscitation is important.
