12/17/2008 8:55:37 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec17-About 500 companies of paramilitary forces that had been sent to Jammu and Kashmir on poll duty will be retained till the end of 7th phase polling. Official sources today said that these forces will not be withdrawn till the announcement of the election results. While the seventh phase polling is to end on December 24 the results will be announced from December 28.
The sources said that “we have so far succeeded in ensuring incident free polling and we do not want peace to be disturbed before the formation of the new Government. Hence we have decided to retain the companies of security forces till the announcement of the results.”
According to these sources, thinning of the security forces has been started in areas where polling had been completed but total de-induction has not been ordered yet. They said “we are watching the situation and when we are fully satisfied that there was no threat to peace, we will order de-induction of the forces.”
