Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 7: Balwant Thakur's highly acclaimed play 'Aap Hamaare Hain' is being presented in four languages viz., French, Creole, English and Hindi in Mauritius. Under a unique initiative of the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Government of Mauritius this popular play of Balwant Thakur has been chosen to be presented in four languages with the motive to take this play to the entire population of this multi-lingual country. The first presentation of this play is being inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Government of Mauritius at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, High Commission of India next Sunday. The entire project has been initiated with the aim of introducing modern children theatre in Mauritius under the creative direction and guidance of Balwant Thakur. Balwant Thakur is currently working as the cultural diplomat of India to Mauritius and is heading the world's biggest Indian cultural centre abroad as director based in Mauritius. Balwant Thakur's 'Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun' was found more contemporary and appropriate for Mauritius and on a special request it has been translated in French, Creole and English. With this development, 'Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun' will be the first Indian children's play being translated in French, Creole and English. This new development has proven the fact once again that his works are being recognised globally.
Play 'Aap Hamare Hain Kaun' shakes parents, educationists/guardians of society out of reverie of materialism, consumerism and unbridled desires. This play compels elders to look around and clear the mess they have created due to their own amorous ambitions and rat race. Parents see in their children an extension of their unfulfilled dreams and force them to become stereotypes and kill the bountiful charm in them. In a pursuit to make them top professionals, doctors, engineers and civil servants, they are subjected to every kind of cruelty. The children become mechanical and hardly get time to discover their real self. Prevalent educational system adds further insult to the injury and their creativity gets scuttled and children grow up devoid of values. Play deals with contemporary problems that younger generation is up against from their own loved ones and surroundings. Tall claims and big concerns of parents, relations, and educationists are being questioned by the younger generation…… Aap Hamare hain Kaun
