Training programme under DST-STI concludes at SKUAST-K

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: A 10 days training programme Production improvement, sustainable development and livelihood improvement of threatened tribal nomads of Ladakh through scientific sheep and pashmina goat rearing" sponsored by DST-STI, HUB was concluded today on 05/10/2022 at Directorate of extension SKUAST-Kashmir Shalimar campus.
As per the statement by (Dr. Feroz Din Sheikh Principal Investigator) the objective of the training programme was to get hands on training to counter the problems faced by nomads of UT-Ladakh. The training was held from 26-09-2022 to 05-10-2022 for the field staff and SRF/ KVK-Leh field staff. The training programme was inaugurated by prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganaie Honble Vice Chancellor SKUAST-K and was held at Directorate of Extension, under the supervision of prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi. During the course of this training various theoretical lectures were delivered on scientific sheep and goat management by different professors of SKUAST-K. Under the training programme exposure visits to different research stations like Mountain ResearchCentre for sheep and goat, Shuhama and Mountain Livestock Research Institute, Manasbal for practical classes was done. The valedictory function was chaired by Senior Professor Hilal Mussadik Khan (Chief Scientist and Head MLRI Manasbal) as the chief guest. The function was also attended by Dr FD Sheikh PI of the Project/Course Director and other CoPIs/Course coordinators DR Khurshid Ahmed Dar, Dr Nazir Bumla and Dr Henna Hamdani. In the end Certificates were also distributed amongst the trainees. The trainees gave their feedback and highly appraised the Directorate of Extension staff for the successful conclusion of the programme.
