JSCL to develop park, amphitheatre, martyrs’ wall under Smart Cities Mission

JAMMU, Oct 10: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta on Monday kick started the development work of Dogra Shaurya Smarak, here at Amphalla.
The Dogra Shaurya Smarak is being developed with state-of-art facilities by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) under Smart Cities Mission of Ministry of Housing Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
JSCL, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rahul Yadav; Additional CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta; Councillor ward-17, Nidhi Mangotra; Councillor ward-9, Suneet Kumar Raina; Project Director JSCL, Sunil Thusoo, JSCL, Junior Engineer, Akhil and other senior officials were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Chander Mohan Gupta said that Dogra Shuarya Samark was established by the then mayor as a tribute to Dogra Martyrs. “Now this will be further developed by Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) under Smart Cities Mission,” he said, adding that the JSCL is executing several projects to develop the city of temples as eco-city.
“After the completion of the work, the project will serve as a recreation spot for senior citizens as well as the morning walkers” he added.
“Not only locals will avail the benefits of this project but the development of Dogra Shaurya Smarak will also attract the attention of tourists especially pilgrims of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and visitors of Manda Zoo,” he said. Divulging details about the project, CEO, JSCL, Rahul Yadav said that Dogra Shaurya Smarak is being developed under Smart Cities Mission at a cost of Rs 20 Lakh.
“Under the project, a park will be developed around the Dogra Shaurya Smarak with adequate seating facilities and bollards,” he said.
He further said that the martyrs’ wall will also be constructed. “The names of Dogra martyrs will be inscribed on the wall, which will inspire other citizens,” he said.
He further said that JSCL has also planned to establish an amphitheatre with a capacity of 60 people. He added that the open-air venue will be dedicated to citizens for entertainment, performances and sports.
He directed the concerned officials to execute the project in a stipulated time frame.
