| Dr. Verma conferred with fellowship award and Gold medal by CSI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 17: Dr. K.C Verma cardiologist and Director, ‘Jammu heart clinic’ was presented with coveted award of fellowship of cardiological society of India (CSI) with certificate of appreciation and a medal in recognition to his life time achievements in the field of cardiology on 5th of December at a glittering function held at Chennai. This award is given to a life member of cardiological society of India who does exceptionally good work in respect to long term teaching experience, publication of standard scientific material in indexed Indian and international journals, publication of medical books on medicine and cardiology, part taken in national and international cardiological conferences both as a speaker and participant. Dr. Vermas’ gathered biodatat aptly befitted into the format specially designed by the selection body of the cardiological society of India. After his selection this award was announced in his favour by the governing body comprising of past president, elect president of cardiological society of India, presidents of various cardiological societies of the world who are specially invited to witness the convocation function for awarding of rare honour to members of the cardiological society of India. This degree was announced in the name of Dr. Verma during the 4th convocation of fellowship of cardiological society of India and 60th annual cardiological conference at Chennai. Convocation was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of Dr. MGR Medical University of Tamil Nadu, Prof Meer Mustafa Hussain. Dr Verma feels greatly honoured to be one of the fellows of the elite group of cardiologists of India and for this honour, he will ever remain indebted to the president of cardiological society of India and pledged to continue good work for the suffering people and society at large. Dr. Verma has a brilliant record of academic achievements and vast teaching experience in the discipline of Medicine and cardiology. Dr. Verma completed his graduation (MBBS) from medical College, Srinagar, Diploma in Child Health (DCH) from Punjabi University, Patiala and Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from Punjab University Chandigarh. He later on showed keen interest towards Cardiovascular Medicine and obtained his Post-doctoral Degree in cardiology (DM Cardiology). He was inducted into J&K Medical Education services at Lecturer in the faculty of Medicine at Govt. Medical College, Jammu, in 1974. He was upgraded as a Professor in CVT unit of Chest Diseases hospital Medical College, Jammu, the post which he held till his superannuation. At present Dr. Verma is fully pre-occupied with Private practice in the field of cardiology at Jammu Heart Clinic but is also very much interested in Clinical research work and non-invasive techniques in cardiology. He has published more than forty research studies in various reputed medical Indian journals and received due appreciations from different countries of the world. In recognition to his research work, he was awarded prestigious fellow of International College of Physicians from USA and Fellow of Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from London in 1978 and 1982 respectively. He has been recently conferred the prestigious ‘Glory of India Award’ by India international friendship society on the day of Parvasi, Bhartiya Divas during international conference on 9th January 2008 at New Delhi and best citizen of India award by International publishing house New Delhi. He has to his credit four medical books namely, 1. Modern Clinical Cardiology, 2. Clinical Electrocardiography, 3. Diagnostic Cardiology and clinical echocardiography (Under publication).
