Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17-Former minister and JK Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) chief Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that economic stability and empowerment of people was the only way to address problems confronting people of Jammu and Kashmir. The state, he said had passed through its worst phase and people misled on all fronts. The time has come when truth will prevail and those trying to woo the voters on false promise will be shown the door, he added.
Addressing an election meeting of party candidate from Jammu-East, Zaffar Javed Khan at Gujjar Nagar DPN chief said divisive politics has no role to play in Jammu and Kashmir and those trying to divide the state on communal or regional grounds were merely doing so for their petty interests and stay in power. People of the state, he added were aware of their rights and would not tolerate any move to thrust dynastic rule on them.
Seeking votes in favour of Zaffar Khan, Mir said his credibility has made him a candidate of Jammu-East. Against all odds, Zaffar Khan was the choice of people who sought mandate for him. His election as member of the legislative assembly, Mir said would be an eye opener for those who were trying to divide the state. People of state, he asserted were looking for candidates having potential to work for them and Zaffar was the right choice.
He said DPN stands for equitable development of all three regions of the state and added that during his tenure as minister for housing and urban development massive development works were initiated irrespective region. A good number of historic sites were brought on the tourism map to boost the economy of Jammu especially and the state in general. Similarly projects aimed at attracting tourists were initiated in Srinagar and Ladakh to make the economy of Jammu and Kashmir stronger.
Women, children, aged and underprivileged were the worst sufferers in the state who need special attention, said Mir adding that DPN is committed to serve this section of the society in a bigger way.
Zaffar Khan in his address asked people to make their opinion after assessing the work done in ward No 2. As a councilor, he claimed that he had done whatever he could to develop the area where view points were made, historic temple of Ramtalai restored and garbage collection points remodeled for the convenience of general masses. He urged people to give DPN a chance so that the hands of Mir are strengthened and state developed into a model state.
Senior party leaders Kuldeep Wahi, Narinder Singh Raina, Amarjit Singh and Virender Singh Chib also addressed the meeting and sought votes in favour of Zaffar Khan. Later, DPN Chief inaugurated a party office in Christian colony and addressed a meeting.
