| Chaman pays tributes to Army on Vijay Divas | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17- The exemplary bravery and skill demonstrated by the Indian Army during the war for Bangladesh, had provided great opportunity to the country to settle all issues including the so-called problem of Kashmir with Pakistan said former union Minister and BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta while paying rich tributes to the Indian Army on Vijay Divas. Had not the Congress leadership fumbled under communal and other pressure, Gupta said the state would not have lost the large and most fertile areas of Chamb in Jammu to Pakistan, there would not have the refugees problem which is still remains unsettled, Gupta observed. Former Minister of State for Defence recalled that during 1971 war, the Army had made over 92,000 Pakistani soldiers as prisoner of war and Pakistan was broken into pieces but it was strange that at the diplomatic table the Congress leadership at Shimla under their traditional appeasement policy not only returned the prisoners and thousands of square Kms of conquered areas to Pakistan in the Western theatre but strangely enough over thirty villages of Chamb sector were also handed over to Pakistan and did little for the return of the Indian Jawans taken as prisoners in Pakistan
