DCPU conducts 2-day drive against child labour, begging; rescues one minor

RAMBAN, Oct 13: The enforcement team of the District Child Protection Unit, Ramban conducted a two day special drive against child labor and begging in the district and rescued a minor boy.
The minors from outside of Jammu and Kashmir UT were pushed by their own parents into the beggary.
The team of DCPU Ramban gave a stern warning to the parents of rescued children, before handing over the ward to them. "If their children are found begging again, an FIR under the juvenile justice act will be registered against them. Most of the beggars are migrants and their parents do not carry any age or identification proof.
The officials of the DCPU under the aegis of, DCPU Officer, Ramban, Rahul Gupta also conducted awareness camps against child labour at different locations of district Ramban. Scores of local people attended the camps. During the camps, LCPO Ramban Vikram Singh Raju highlighted the various features of article 24 of the Indian constitution and other several laws regarding children besides asking that the aim is to make the district child friendly and ensure that children do not fall victim to trafficking or child labour.
