| PTU organizing road safety campaign in 500 schools | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17- Punjab Technical University is organizing “Road safety campaign’ in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Orrisa and Andhra Pradesh during International Road Safety Week starting from 1st January 09. The campaign is planned in hundreds of schools and colleges by learning centers representatives of the University. The objective is to share the importance of following Traffic rules and regulations for Road Safety. A documentary made on this issue is being show cased during these road shows and traffic rules booklets are being distributed. Dr R.P. Singh, Dean DEP, PTU said that other than our mission of providing quality technical education to the deprived community through our distance education program, we have also understood this to be our moral duty to make our students good civil citizens aware of their responsibility to society. The mega road safety campaign is a step in the same direction. ‘We are organizing a massive Road Safety Campaign in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Punjab and Orissa. We shall be covering more than 500 schools and colleges and shall demonstrate a documentary towards road safety measures’ he said. The Regional head M. Dewan, said that we are educating the masses through students regarding prominent violations in traffic rules which includes over speeding, honking, jumping red light, avoiding helmets, drunken driving and driving without valid driving license and other documents. He said that we must take responsibility of certain reforms rather than putting all blames on the government and administration by at least not violating the norms ourselves.
