Krishi Vigyan Kendra organises Special Swachhta campaign

REASI, Oct 14: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised Special Swachhata Campaign here at Govt. Middle School, Kans Khassan in Reasi distt.of J&K which was enthuastically attended by a number of school children and teachers. The programme was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and able guidance of Director Extension (DE) of SKUAST-J, Prof. SK Gupta. The month long campaign was commenced from 2nd of Oct. and will be continued till 31st of Oct. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi warmly welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of clean and hygienic conditions at home and surrounding premises including school. He said that Special Swachhata Campaign is a flagship programme of the Government of India to clean the vicinities so that the national drive of clean India can be made successful. He added that this noble mission will be successful only when all the citizens of the country participate in the cleanness drive. He discussed on handwashing, proper disposal of waste, biodegradable and non-degradable waste with the students. He added that Gandhiji always wanted to make sanitation a priority in the whole nation. He urged the participants to aware more and more people of the district about this derive to keep their residential areas, schools, playgrounds, temples, mosques, Panchayat Ghar etc. clean and green and emphasised on the proper sanitization of toilets, drainages, cleaning of drinking water etc. He said the participants that this campaign can reduce disease infestation in human beings, animals and crops. He urged the participants to disseminate this message of cleanliness and hygiene to the other people of the area and suggested them to participate in this clean India campaign with full enthuse. He highlighted the disadvantages of open defecation and suggested the participants to motivate the people to utilize toilets at their homes and eliminate open defecation. The scientist also explained the techniques for solid and liquid wastes management in the rural areas and suggested the participants to be committed towards cleanness derive and urged them to fully involve in this drive of cleanness. Headmistress of School, Gulzar Bibi suggested the participants to make Swacchata a habit in their daily routine whether it is school, office, home, neighbourhood etc. so that the sacred Swachhata Mission can be made successful. She thanked KVK, Reasi for organizing such a useful programme. She encouraged the participants to maintain the social and personal hygiene in day-to-day tasks. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks.
