Azad pays rich tributes to Didi Nirmala Deshpande

JAMMU, Oct 17: Gandhi Global Family J&K remembered eminent Gandhian Didi Nirmala Deshpande, on her 93rd birth anniversary, and presented Nirmala Deshpande Shanti Puraskar 2022 upon 52 organisations for their community services in making a strong & vibrant Jammu & Kashmir.
In a mega function organized at Teacher Bhawan, Jammu, the Gandhi Global Family J&K paid rich tributes to the visionary Didi Nirmala Deshpande who had contributed tremendously for the peace building process in South Asia especially in Jammu & Kashmir.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, President Gandhi Global Family while paying floral tributes to eminent Gandhian Padma Vibhushan Dr. Nirmala Deshpande, who has worked tirelessly to restore peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir after 1990. He remembered her remarkable role in confidence building measures in Jammu & Kashmir and initiating Track II diplomacy in South Asia by organizing peace conferences, national integration camps, sadhbavana yatra, exposure trips, and strengthening people to people contacts. She was a great human and true friend of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
Dr. S P Varma, Vice President Gandhi Global Family underlined the role of Didi Nirmala Deshpande in bringing normalcy in the region by engaging people from all walks of life in the peace building process. He applauded the work of all the awardees & encouraged them to work more for developing a peaceful & progressive Jammu & Kashmir.
On the birth anniversary of Didi Nirmala Deshpande, the United Nations DGC affiliated Peace NGO - Gandhi Global Family felicitated 52 organisations with Nirmala Deshpande Shanti Puraskar 2022 for their outstanding contribution in making a strong & vibrant Jammu & Kashmir.
Prominent among others who also spoke on the occasion were Er. R S Chib, former Minister, Dr. Rajneesh Kumar, National Secretary Gandhi Global Family, Farooq Rinzu Chairman Kashmir Society International, Ram Mohan Rai General Secretary Fayaz Ahmed Bhat, Chairman J&K Peace Foundation, Er. Kailash Pati Sharma & Bashir Ahmed Sheikh Secretar. Later Vote of thanks was paid by Dr. Taran Singh, founding member Gandhi Global Family J&K & the event was ably conducted by Dr. Alka Sharma Head GGF Jammu women wing.
