| HM militants’ arrest: Rajouri Police to corroborate details from Mumbai | | BJP leader being questioned for connection | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 17: Following arrest of a former Hizbul Mujahideen militant, the Rajouri Police are approaching their Mumbai counterparts to verify the disclosures made by absconding militant during preliminary interrogation. A Special Operation Group of Rajouri Police had on Tuesday arrested Sat Pal a former militant of Hizbul Mujahideen who was absconding since 2004. Sat Pal was arrested near Sunderbani in Rajouri district when he was traveling with BJP leader Master Dev Raj Sharma. Sources said that during his questioning in the Joint Interrogation Center, Sat Pal has revealed that he was in Mumbai for past more than two years. He is reported to have told Police that he was working with a travel agency called Vaishnavi Tours and Travels in Central Mumbai. While the questioning is still on, the Rajouri Police have now decided to approach their counterparts in Central Mumbai to verify claims of Sat Pal. “He has been a dreaded terrorist operating in the area for over four years and we have been constant look out for him since 2004 -05 when he went missing…whatever he says can not be easily taken at its face”, said a Police officer associated with the investigation. When asked as what Police meant by ‘missing’, an officer told Early Times, “till 2004 and even upto early 2005 we would often get reports about his activities. But he went missing around that time and nothing was heard since”, said a Police officer. He added that Sat Pal was an active militant of Hizbul Mujahideen and was wanted in many cases. Even though some senior Police officers wished to dismiss connections of Sat Pal with BJP leader Dev Raj Sharma but the district Police and officers associated with investigations confirmed to Early Times that BJP leader is a part of investigation and is cooperating. A Police sources said that after his questioning Dev Raj Sharma was let off this evening but has been asked by the Police to cooperate with investigation.
