JAMMU, Oct 18: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has castigated the Govt for plunging every section of the society into miseries due to its totally anti people policies. It has further accused the J&K Union Territory Administration of adopting a callous attitude towards the Schedule Caste community besides other reserved categories.
The castigation and accusation were voiced during a meeting of the District Presidents of Schedule Caste (SC) Cell of Jammu Province held at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan here today.
While Vijay Lochan Provincial President SC Cell NC Jammu presided over the meeting, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President NC was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
During the meeting detailed deliberations and discussions were held on the pressing issues confronting the members of the Schedule Caste community including backlog, reservation, etc.
Senior NC leader and Provincial President Jammu, Rattan Lal Gupta while addressing the meeting said that every section of the society is overburdened with the heavy load of hardships that have resulted due to the hollow policies of the incumbent Govt. He said that people residing in urban areas are crying for the very basic necessity i.e. drinking water, the scarcity of which has hit almost every urban area not to talk of the rural areas. He stated that the PHE daily wagers are on strike for the last more than six months people not getting regular water supply but it is quite shameful for the Govt not resolving the issue as a result of which the people can’t even quench their thirst
Rattan Lal Gupta also slammed the Govt for its callous attitude towards the reserve category employees posted in Kashmir Valley who are protesting in Jammu seeking posting in Jammu in view of the unabated target killings in the Valley.
Asserting that this is the most important issue to be addressed forthwith, he appealed to the Govt to address it on topmost priority.
The NC Provincial President condemned the Govt for raising power tariff at this juncture when people are facing brunt of the highest ever inflation. He demanded that Govt should immediately roll back its decision of hike in power tariff to ease the people’s problems. He showed great concern for opening of beer and other ready drinks in departmental stores and opening of Reliance stores etc. He demanded to roll back all these anti people orders immediately. The meeting also strongly condemned the targets killing in the valley.
Vijay Lochan in his address on the occasion said that while the BJP Govt at the Centre is making tall claims about equitable development and welfare of the people yet the fact remains that SC and other reserve category people continue to be the worst sufferers under the incumbent regime. He demanded that the Govt must change its attitude towards the aforesaid communities and ameliorate the living condition of this section of the society.
