GDC Thannamandi organizes One Day Workshop on the topic “Safety in Online Financial Transactions”

Thanamandi, Oct 18: Government Degree College, Thannamandi organized a one day National Workshop on the topic “Safety in online Financial Transactions”. This workshop was organized under the aegis of Cyber Jagrookta Programme of Govt. of India and under the patronage of the principal of the college, Dr. Farooq Ahmed who also presided over the programme. The formal welcome address was presented by Prof. Raheela Mushtaq, Coordinator IQAC and proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Ather Aziz Raina, Head Department of Mathematics/Applied Mathematics who was Organizing Secretary of the workshop. Prof. Rakesh Kumar from Department of Statistics, Namibia University of Science & Technology (NUST) shared a pre-recorded keynote address whereas Mr. Ishaq Ahmed from Department of Science & Information Technology, University of Malaya, Kualalumpur, Malaysia and Mr. Abdul Waris Malik from Department of Computer Applications, GDC Thannamandi delivered Invited Talks on the topic. Both the speakers, in their talks, discussed at length about cyber crimes and ways to ensure security especially during online financial transactions. A Question-Answer session was also held in which doubts of participants related to cyber crimes & security were cleared by the speakers. About 175 No. of students and staff of the college attended this programme. The principal of the college Dr. Farooq Ahmed, in his presidential address, also highlighted the need of spreading awareness about the cyber security. He appreciated the efforts put in by organizing team in organizing such an informative programme. The invited speakers and members of organizing committee were felicitated in the valedictory session by presenting appreciation certificates. The valedictory session was conducted by Prof. Rumy Dar, convener, Debate & Seminar Committee who was co-convener of the workshop. Mr. Mudasir Majeed, Head Department of Islamic Studies and college nodal officer, Cyber Jagrookta Programme was convener of the workshop whereas Mr. Tahir Nadeem, Assistant Professor (Applied Mathematics) was co-organising secretary of the programme.
At the end, formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Khalid Rayaz, Head, Department of Geography.
