CGPWA organises symposium on Swachta at Balgran

JAMMU, Oct 20: The Central Govt Pensioners' Welfare Association, Jammu (CGPWA) organised a symposium on Swachta Abhiyan at Balgran here today in collaboration with the Bal Bharti Public School and School for Hearing Handicapped.
Former Chief Secretary, J&K BR Sharma was the chief guest while Kuldeep Khoda, former Chief Vigilance Commissioner, J&K and the President CGPWA presided over. President of Balgran, Charitable Home for Destitute Children, Er. AK Khajuria and the President of Samaj Kalyan Kendra, (SKK) which runs a school for Deaf & Dumb, K B Jandial who is also the General Secretary of CGPWA, were also present.
Students of both Schools spoke about the significance of cleanliness for which a month-long nationwide campaign has been launched by the Prime Minister Narinder Modi. Three students of School for Hearing Handicapped, Ritesh Singh of 12th class, Garima Misri and Fozia Shamash, both of 11th class expressed their views on Swachta though sign language which was profusely applauded. Teacher Seema Rani translated their sign language into English and Hindi for the audience. Three students of Bal Bharti- Mukesh of 10th class, Priyanka of 9th class and Gun Gun of 7th class also spoke on the subject. They pointed out that first the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and now the Prime Minister Modi.
Speaking of the occasion, BR Sharma emphasized the role of students in the success of Swachta campaign and said that students should emulate this habit right from beginning and make it a part of their lives.
Kuldeep Khoda in his presidential address lauded the views expressed by the students on cleanliness and said that every citizen including our youth must emulate the habit of cleanliness in their lives to make our cities cleaner.
On the occasion, BR Sharma was made the Honorary Life Member of the Samaj Kalyan Kendra for his memorable contributions in improving the infrastructure of the School for Hearing Handicapped as Chief Secretary of J&K.
Khoda and Sharma also presented cash awards to the toppers of the School for Hearing Handicapped in J&K School Board examinations on behalf of the Samaj Kalyan Kendra. Cash award of Rs. 5000 was presented to 12th class topper Pardeep Kumar, Rs. 4000 to 11th class topper Arshia Gandotra, Rs. 3500 to 10th class topper Sonab Chib and Rs. 2500 to 8th Class topper.
The participants of symposium were presented gifts and participation certificates.
General Secretary Balgran VK Raina conducted the program.
Among those who present on the occasion included Patron-in-Chief of Balgran, Er. AK Arora, General Secretary SKK JK Vaid, Vice President CGPWA and former DG DRDO, Dr. Sudarshan Kumar, Vice President Balgran Er. JK Gupta, Prem Gupta, former IGP, SC Sharma former CCF both members of the Governing Body of Balgran, HN Raina, Secretary & MD Sharma Treasurer of SKK, Principal Bal Bharti Mrs. Urmil Arora and Principal School for Hearing Handicapped Roshan Bhan.
Earlier the President & General Secretary Balgran took Khoda & Sharma around the School and Orphanage and apprised them the functioning of both institutions. There are 200 students og Bal Bharti school including 111 inmates of Balgran.
