BJP wants PDP, NC to speak on anti-terror law
12/18/2008 9:40:20 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 18- Pledging their support to enact any law to curb the menace of terrorism and secessionism, former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta today asked leaders of the Pradesh Congress, National Conference and those of the PDP to make their stand clear right now that whether they would extend the proposed measure in this regard in Jammu and Kashmir also.
Prof. Gupta appealed to the electorate to ensure the victory of only those who can support the extension of the law being enacted at the Centre in this State also because the Congress and National Conference leaders have created a strange situation that no law enacted by the Parliament can be extended to Jammu and Kashmir unless approved by the State legislature.
Before flagging off a scooter/motor cycle rally in Jammu West Assembly Constituency and addressing election meetings at Karan Nagar and Shakti Nagar, he alleged that Congress-PDP coalition and even the National Conference dispensations have been mysteriously soft towards dealing with the menace of secessionism and even the terrorism during all these years.
The BJP leader pointed out that during the period of past two decades about 70,000 militancy related cases were registered in various police stations of the State. In these cases about 30,000 persons were arrested but there was not a single case in which the guilty was awarded any exemplary punishment, although the ultras had killed over 28000 persons including about 20000 innocent civilians and over 6000 security personnel.
Prof. Gupta impressed upon the voters to take into account the controversial functioning of the Ministers and others of this coalition partners while deciding to cast their votes as this is the time when they can punish such politicians who played with the honour and dignity of the country and betrayed the national interests.
He alleged that National Conference has played a big political fraud against Jammu by putting embargo that there would be no Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies in this State till 2026.
