SKUAST inaugurates new Statistics Data Analysis Cell for academicians, researchers

JAMMU, Oct 22: The newly established Statistical Data Analysis Cell (SDAC) lab and smart classroom in the Division of Statistics and Computer Science inaugurated with main objective of disseminating the knowledge of latest Artificial intelligence and Machine Learning procedures among the academicians and researchers for proper policy planning and good decision making in context to agricultural research through organization of various trainings and workshops. The inauguration was done by Atal Dulloo (IAS) Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department in gracious presence of Prof. J.P. Sharma Vice chancellor SKUAST-Jammu. Atal Dullo along with the Prof. J.P Sharma Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu and Prof. Nazir Ahmad Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir reviewed on-going research activities of the Division and interacted with research scholars of the division. Atal Dullo lauded the infrastructure developed and work being undertaken at the Division of Statistics and Computer Science. During this occasion Professor Manish Sharma, Head Division of Statistics and Computer Science briefed about the overview of lab which has been designed to impart detailed knowledge to the research scholars and faculty members about the prevailing concepts related to the field of artificial intelligence, Machine learning and data visualization. He further maintained that this lab has been setup to sensitize scholars and faculty members about latest statistical technique for handling complex data set and to provide technical support with focus in areas of statistical modelling and experimental design. Prof Vikas Sharma, Associate Coordinator, IDP-NAHEP also appraise the dignitaries about the IDP and the motto about to develop the smart classroom. Further he also deliberated that the state of art smart class room is loaded with all necessary audio visual services, interactive boards and LCD panels with packed internet connectivity. The programme was attended by Dr. Rakesh Nanda (Director Education), Dr. A K Mondal (Dean, FoA), Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi Dean (FBSc.), Dr. Susheel K. Gupta (Registrar), Prof R Peshin (Controller Examination), Prof Sanjay Guleria, Prof Romesh Salgotra, Er Iqbal Singh, Dr Puneet, Dr Vikas, Dr Anil, Dr MIJ Bhat, Dr Panotra, Dr Sunali and Dr Akshita Sharma.
