‘Shreya bags best speaker award

Jammu, Dec 18- Shreya Jain from the Government Women College, Parade was adjudged as the best speaker in the Inter-Collegiate/Department Elocution Competition conducted by the Department of the Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent” 2008-09.
Dimple Sharma from the Department of Law, University of Jammu and Indu Bagal from the Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar bagged second and third prize respectively. Nitin Parihar from the Law School, University of Jammu, Viashail from MIER College of Education, Syed Azhar from GGM Science College, Evening and Arushi from Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar were awarded Certificates of Merit.
Twenty five students from various Departments of the University and its affiliated colleges, including Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar, Government M.A.M P.G College, Morning, The Law School, University of Jammu, K.C Law College, Department of Law, University of Jammu, Trikuta College of Computer Science, MIER College of Education, Government. Degree College, Akhnoor, G.G.M Science College, Evening, Government Women College, Parade, The Business School, University of Jammu, University of Jammu, Shivalik College of Education, Udhampur, G.G.M Science College, Morning and Government Degree College, Rajouri, participated in the contest.
The contest was extempore. Every participant was required to express his/her views on the topic allotted by draw of lots.
Some of the interesting topics included “Role of Youth in Nation Building”, “Empowerment of Women”, “Role of Print and Electronic Media in today’s life”, Problem of Unemployment”, Donate Eyes: See Beyond the life”, Self Defence Training for female is the necessity of the hour”, Female Foeticide”, “Violence in Films, “Adverse Effects of the Advertisements.
Prof. M.K Jyoti, dormer Director, Distance Education, Prof. Lalit Mangotra, former Head, Department of Physics and Electronics and Nitish Arora, Transmission Executive Radio Kashmir, Jammu were the Adjudicators.
Prof. N.K Triphati, President, JUTA, was the chief Guest on the occasion while Prof. Dhian S. Bhau, Dean Students Welfare, presented the welcome address.
Among others, Dr. Shailendra Singh, Dr. A.S Jasrotia, Dr. Prakash Anthal, Vinay Thusoo, Public Relations Officer, were also present.
