Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 30: In yet another shocking allegation of misuse of public money on self-promotion, the Punjab government has been accused of spending around Rs one crore on social media advertisements in poll-bound Gujarat, where the Aam Aadmi Party is facing controversies of sorts.
The AAP -led Punjab government advertisements are running on social media in Gujarat. While the dept-ridden AAP government in Punjab is already accused of spending crores on advertisements, this expenditure in the port city has left the people of Punjab even fuming.
As per sources, the Punjab government has spent on over rupees one crore on one single social media platform alone, where 136 advertisements of the AAP-government were carried in around three months.
Sources said the matter was likely to be brought to the notice of the concerned to know if the AAP government was trying to influence any social media platform by making such huge expenditure on it ahead of the elections.
What is even shocking is that most the advertisements that were carried on the social media platform were even not in Punjabi.
In one of the videos, the Punjab government is seen appreciating Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.
Observers said it was gross misuse of public money ahead of the Gujarat polls and that the central government should order a probe.
This shocking revelation has come to fore when the Bharatiya Janta Party has already accused the Punjab government of misusing public money.
On October 26, BJP accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab of spending a whopping amount of Rs 24 crore to advertisement to introduce a spray machine worth Rs 8 lakh.
Recently Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann introduced a machine for managing crop residue and stubble burning in the state. Although cost of the machine is Rs 8 lakh, the Punjab government spent a whopping amount of Rs 24 crore on advertisements to highlight the introduction of this machine.
“What can we expect from a government which spent an amount of Rs 24 crore on advertisement while introducing a machine which costs Rs 8 lakh”, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra told media adding AAP leadership was befooling the people.
Despite repeated attempts the Punjab government spokesman couldn’t be contacted for comments.
