Clean India 2.0 conducted by NSS GGM Science College

Jammu, Nov 1: NSS Unit II GGM Science College Jammu inaugurated “Swachh Bharat Clean India 2.0 Campaign” on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The campaign startedon Gandhi Jayanti 2nd October to 31st October 2022. During this month-long campaign, a number of cleanliness activities were organized to promote ‘Jan Bhagidari’; the efforts to involve the residents of the cities in this campaign. Clean India 2.0 a mega event conducted by the NSS Unit II under the patronage of the College Principal Prof. Rajesh Gupta and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. NSS unit II of GGM Science college on 2nd October Gandhi Jayanti participated in Fit India Plog run 3.0 covering the Bus Stand Ghumat Area.
The volunteers along with the dignitaries of JMC took Swatchta pledge.They covered 3 km and collected 6 kg of waste collected and handed it to JMC. The NSS volunteers participated in Save River Campaign by JKPCC during the sakh visarjan during Navratri celebration on 3rd and 4th October 2022. The Cleanliness of river tawi was done by NSS unit II. The segregation was done by the volunteers and the segregated waste was sent to JMC solid waste MRF of IPCA for disposal in an environmental friendly manner by JKPCC and NGO Disha Organization. The chunris coconut leaves flowers polythene recovered were sent to recycle. The fresh flowers were separated separately and were sent to Nagrota to make incense sticks. The waste collected by NSS volunteers unit II at harki powdi Polythene 11 kg , Cardboard 34 kg, Plastic Bottles 27 kg, Chunnri 37 kg, Wet Waste 120 kg, Fresh Flowers kg; TOTAL = 243 kg. Mega Swacchata Driveunder the aegis of Clean India 2.0 was conducted on 19th October 2022. The volunteers participated in drive and collected 61 kg plastic trash around their surroundings and handed over to JMC for proper disposal. Mega swatchta drive was again carried out in college campus and the area surrounding the college on 28th October 2022. The 15 kg collected trash and plastic waste were handed over to municipality vehicle. All the NSS Volunteers involved in Clean India 2.0 campaign participated enthusiastically and actively in making it successful collecting 325 kg plastic waste and disposing off to JMC for necessary action. The College Principal praised the NSS Unit for the successful completion of Clean INDIA 2.0 activities.
