SI paper leak scam: CJM sends accused CMO on 15-day judicial remand

Jammu, Nov 1: CJM Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh today granted 10 days police remand of Dr. Karnail Singh, Chief Medical Officer, BSF who was arrested by the CBI in SI paper leak scam.
The accused was produced by Investigating Officer, DySP Prashant Sharma of CBI before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Tuesday in connection with aforesaid FIR for offences under section 120-B read with Section 420 of IPC alongwith case diary with a prayer for grant of 15 day judicial remand in respect of the accused.
The CJM after perusal of CD file observed that the accused had been arrested on 18.10.2022 in FIR in question. He was remanded to 5-day police custody on 28.10.2022 till today.
Investigation is going on. Further, principal offence involved in the case in hand is non-bailable in nature.
Accused has not been admitted to bail by any competent court of law till date. On facts therefore, a case for grant of judicial remand for a period of fifteen 15 days from today till 15.11.2022 as prayed for is therefore made out by investigating agency. Accordingly, accused is remanded to judicial custody for 15 days as aforesaid to be kept at District Jail Amphalla, Jammu and on the expiry of aforesaid remanded period, accused be produced before competent forum for further orders.
