Ghar Wapsi in offing: A senior Azad loyalist in touch with Cong leadership
11/1/2022 11:01:17 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 1: Notwithstanding claims of the Democratic Azad Party (DAP) leadership to wipe out the Congress party from the political map of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior loyalist of Ghulam Nabi Azad is seriously thinking over “Ghar-Wapsi”.
This senior politician, who had joined DAP with much fanfare and publicity to show his loyalty towards Ghulam Nabi Azad has reportedly opened the channel of communication with the leadership of the Congress so as to keep the option open.
Highly placed sources said that this leader has recently called a senior Congress leader and asked him not to give any position to any other leader in his constituency. “The Azad loyalist has reportedly told a senior Congress leader that due to lack of coordination among leaders DAP is unlikely to take a full-fledged shape of the party”, a source said.
Sources said that despite the sincere efforts of Ghulam Nabi Azad most of his loyalists are not yet left their egos. “It is all due to ego clash that Azad is finding it difficult to announce office bearers of his newly floated political party”, sources said.
As reported earlier, Ghulam Nabi Azad has been elected the chairman of his newly formed Democratic Azad Party (DAP), a party leader said on October 1.
A resolution to this effect was passed at a founder members session, which was held both in Jammu and Srinagar, the leader said, adding the decision was unanimous.
Azad, 73, who quit the Congress on August 26, launched DAP in Jammu on September 26 with the support of dozens of former ministers, ex-legislators, and other prominent leaders, the majority of whom also resigned from the Congress in his support.
