ASCOMS organizes divisional round of IAP quiz for undergraduates

JAMMU, Nov 2: Department of Paediatrics, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu organized Divisional Round of IAP Quiz today in the College Auditorium in which participants from Govt. Medical College, Jammu, ASCOMS, Jammu and Govt. Medical College Baramulla participated. Team comprising of Alia Razzak and Astha from Govt. Medical College, Jammu were emerged as winners and Team comprising of Gurjeet Singh and Imtiyaz Bhat from Govt. Medical College, Jammu were Runner Up. Team ASCOMS was represented by Divyanshu Saini, Anandhi Gandotra and Suby and Rashid and Team GMC Baramulla was represented by Faizan Aftab and Aadil Gulshan.
Dr. Ashok Gupta former Professor & Head, Department of Paediatrics, GMC, Jammu was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The function was presided over by D.K. Batra, Secretary ASCOMS. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Ashok Gupta, lauded the efforts made by Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Prof. & HOD Deptt. of Paediatrics ASCOMS for organizing flawless Quiz Competition. He also praised the efforts of the Management of ASCOMS for holding this academic event for Undergraduates. Dr. Ghanshyam Saini, Professor & Head Paediatrics, GMC Jammu in his address congratulated the team Paediatrics, ASCOMS for getting permission to start the PG Course in this discipline from the current year. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS while addressing the gathering, highlighted the achievements of paediatrics department in general and that of Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta in particular who started his journey in paediatrics and also informed that as an undergraduate student, he was the first to start Paediatric Quiz organized by IAP way back in 1988 and rose to become National Coordinator for organizing the IAP Quiz for coming two years. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation for encouraging the young student participants by awarding them with cash prizes and he also informed that such academic activities will be conducted regularly in coming future by the Dr. Ritu Gupta Foundation. Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta Quiz Master and Prof. & Head Paediatrics highlighted the importance of IAP Quiz and described all the rules and regulations of the Quiz to participants. He was assisted by Dr. Sushil Sharma, Asstt Prof. Paediatrics. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. Vikas Sharma and Dr. Muskan Nargotra.
The winning team from GMC Jammu would be participating in the forthcoming Zonal Round which will be held in Ludhiana.
