Over 50k consumers avail power amnesty scheme
11/2/2022 10:48:35 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 2: The Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) on Wednesday claimed that in one month Rs 17 crores has been collected as more than 50,000 consumers availed benefit of amnesty scheme approved by the Administrative Council headed by the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently.
The decision was taken by the Administrative Council in view of domestic consumers not being able to avail the benefits of last scheme due to spread of COVID-19 pandemic during the scheme period.
The JPDCL MD, Shiv Anant Tayal on Wednesday disclosed that JPDCL has realized more than Rs 17 crores within the first month of the launch of Power Amnesty Scheme.
He said that 50000 consumers have availed the benefit of the scheme in the first month and the number is expected to grow in the coming months.
"As soon as the bill distribution process for Amnesty Scheme -22 started, people realized that the government has extended huge benefit by waiving off the interest and surcharge portion of the billed amount upto March-2022," said Tayal.
He asserted that all the Sub-divisions have been categorically instructed to ensure that bill printed under Amnesty should reach every beneficiary so that they can avail the benefit of Amnesty scheme.
*To publicize the Scheme, PDD has formed joint teams of District Administration and Elected Representatives including DDC, BDC Members and Corporators of Jammu Municipal Corporation with PDD Officers so that maximum number of people can avail the benefit of the Scheme," said the MD.
He also added that the current bills generated after March-2022 are to be paid simultaneously with the Outstanding Principal amnesty amount, adding, "those who fail to pay current bills simultaneously will forfeit the benefit of Amnesty Scheme and face disconnection of Power Supply."
He exhorted upon those who are yet to deposit their bills to deposit the bills at an earliest to avoid disconnection and coercive measures.
