Model Academy organises Annual Sports Day

JAMMU, Nov 3: A magnificent sports extravaganza was organised at Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER in which the students from Humming Buds- the preschool, Inclusive school, and Primary Wing of both the branches, B.C. Road and Residency Road participated with great fervour and manifested their athletic skills with an unimpeachable finesse.
The theme of this year's sports day was " Fit Body, Fit Mind, Fit Environment."
Rupa Gupta, Joint Director MIER presided over as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present were Dr.Pramod Kumar Srivastava, Principal, J.K. Dhiman, Vice-Principal, Manager Academics, In-Charge Humming Buds, Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD UG, Department MIER College and faculty members.
The programme commenced with the lightning of the torch by Rupa Gupta who also declared the sports meet open, followed by an energetic display of dumbbells drill.
An array of fun- filled athletic events were organised wherein the young athletes marvelled one and all with their breath-taking performances exhibiting coordination of gross motor skills. Participants of classes 4 and 5 demonstrated aerobic and karate performances which were indeed captivating.
Rupa Gupta lauded the efforts of sports department and also appreciated the students for taking part in the event. She was delighted to see the large number of young children participating enthusiastically and said that we all can learn outside the classroom through the medium of sports which is like a rejuvenating therapy.
The winners who made it to the victory stand felt proud on being awarded with medals and certificates by the chief guest.
The programme was coordinated by Neetu Bhardwaj, Nisha Sharma and Imran, Physical Instructors of the sports department.
Welcome address was delivered by Shreya Sharma, and vote of thanks was proposed by Vaibhav Abrol, Sports Captains of the school.
