Dy Mayor JMC holds meeting

JAMMU, Nov 4: In a "Housing For All" meeting held under the chairmanship of Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria and attended among others by Senior officers of Jammu Municipal Corporation, J&K Housing Board, Jammu Development Authority and JMC Corporators, it was revealed that 750 flats are being constructed at Kot Bhalwal in Jammu under AHP (Affordable Housing in Partnership) Scheme of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The monitoring of the scheme will be done by Govt. Of India and it will be executed by Govt. Of Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.The beneficiaries of the scheme will be EWS(Economically Weaker Section) residents drawing less than 03 lacs a year as income and don't possess any house. Each flat would cost Rs. 9.25 lacs approx. The amount of Rs. 1.66 lacs would be provided as the subsidy and 02 lacs would be interest free loan for the flats. The loan can be availed from Jammu & Kashmir Bank, which can be returned within 10 years.
Matter regarding insanitation at Bawe Wali Mata was also discussed threadbare in the meeting. It was informed that a stretch of RCC drain is being taken up under the JSCL project. The left side of the drain at Bahu Fort will be immediately repaired.
In a meeting, the matter regarding creation of more parking slots in the area near Bawe Wali Mata was also discussed. Some participants suggested construction of Valet Parking in the vicinity of Bahu Fort. In case this is not possible, alternate parking has to be created in the area and recommended to the Govt.
Haphazard construction of a large number of buildings on the National Highway was viewed seriously and it was decided that no illegal and unapproved construction would be allowed at National Highway in future.
Baldev Singh Billawaria concluded the meeting with thanks to all the participants and spoke highly of the performance by the team of "Housing For All" over the years. He said that the gigantic efforts made by the team has well been appreciated by the Govt. Of India and it is a matter of pride and satisfaction that Jammu & Kashmir has been conferred Top Award in implementation of PMAY (Urban) for the year 2022. Pertinent to mention here that on October 23 this year Dheeraj Gupta, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, J&K Govt. received the Top Award on behalf of J&K from Union Housing Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri at Rajkot (Gujarat). All members of Housing for all committee Suneet Raina, Surinder Sharma, Pritam Singh, Shradha Devi, Suriender Choudhary and the officers of JMC Rimpy Ohri, KAS Joint Comm., Hitesh Gupta Joint Comm. (R&E), ACR Manisha Angral, Parvinder Kaur, Secretary and other officials were present at the meeting.
