Terror on its last legs
11/4/2022 11:06:28 PM
Terrorism is counting its last breath in Jammu and Kashmir as all the stakeholders are playing an equal role to wipe out the terror from the Union Territory.
People in Kashmir have realized that terrorists sponsored by Pakistan are not their friends as their only aim is to disrupt the normal life and create uncertainty and chaos.
During the past three years security forces have tightened noose around the terrorists and their supporters, and have shattered their support system.
Local recruitment in terror outfits has declined and the network of over ground workers has been dismantled. People don’t support terrorists anymore. Separatists, who used to dance to the tunes of Pakistan and acted as the agents of the neighbouring country have been cut to size. Most of them have been put behind bars, while a few of them have died.
After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two Union Territories—scenario in J&K has changed completely.
The Centre has taken the complete control and has given free hand to the security forces to act against the perpetrators of terror. During the past three years terrorists have not been able to carry out any major strikes as they are aware that they would get a befitting reply.
They have changed their tactics and have carried out attacks on the members of the minority communities. Terrorists have been attacking the soft targets at the behest of their bosses sitting across the LoC.
Security forces to a great extent have been successful in wiping out the terrorists who were responsible for killing unarmed civilians. The decline in local recruitment into terror ranks has led to Pakistan reactivating terror training camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) and filling up the launch pads. The intelligence agencies have warned that infiltration attempts in coming days can increase as the terrorists are waiting in large numbers to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.
The counter infiltration grid along the LoC and the borders is on high alert and the soldiers are maintaining a tight vigil. Pakistan has realized that terrorism in J&K is almost over and it’s making attempts to send in more and more terrorists.
