| Geelani plans to amend right to self determination | | Mahaz-e-Azadi may pull out from Huriyat (G): Geelani | | Srinagar, September, 16: Accusing Hurriyat (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani of having plans to amend the constitution of his faction of the separatist amalgam to do away with the plank of right to self determination, Mahaz-e Azadi Patron Azam Inqillabi here on Saturday threatened to pull out, if Geelani decides to go ahead with the proposed amendment in the Hurriyat constitution. Addressing a press conference Inqilabi claimed that Geelani wants to amend a section of Hurriyat constitution which accepts right to self determination a solution to vexed Kashmir issue. Referring to Geelani’s address to Majlis-e-Shoura of Hurriyat Conference on August 27 this year, Inqillabi said that though Geelani warned to stall such moves which may result in the separation of any Hurriyat constituent, but the contents of rest of his speech spoke volumes about the possibility in Hurriyat constitution on the issue of right to self determination. Appealing Syed Ali Shah Geelani not to allow any amendment on this count, Inqillabi said that pro-freedom leaders are known for their low profile, but rulers of India and Pakistan should not be mistaken to understand that pro-freedom forces have stopped the ongoing resistance movement. Arguing that sacrifices were not made for joint control, he said that resistance movement will get weakened, if pro freedom forces are sidelined. Saying that Pakistan President General Parvez Musharaff has inflicted worst form of humiliation on the people of Jammu & Kashmir state by advising them to forget the concept of a sovereign state in total deviation from UN resolutions on Kashmir issue, Inqillabi said that it is not mandatory for Pakistan to fight for freedom of Kashmir, but youth on the other side of Jammu & Kashmir should join the freedom struggle and let Pakistan fully authorize “Azad Kashmir Government” to shape affairs of the state on its own. Ruling out war an option for resolution of Kashmir issue, Inqillabi said that even if war is an option, let the Government on the other side of LoC play a role on its own. Calling upon Syed Sallah-ud-Din to call a meeting of militant leadership to address its future course of action, if Pakistan Government and the Government on the other side of LoC does not recognize the militant leadership, Inqilabi underscored the need for the trans-LoC political activity to pave way for a joint strategy through dialogue and discussion. He appealed all pro-freedom groups to unite and carry forward the ongoing resistance movement to its logical conclusion. |
