Farooq undervalued his property: Karra
12/19/2008 9:34:43 PM

Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec19- Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Tariq Hameed Karra has advised the National Conference (NC) Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah to shun his colonial mindset of threatening to put everybody behind the bars for challenging his fiefdom. In a statement issued here today, Karra said Dr Abdullah is unfortunately still living in the make-believe world that Kashmir is his family fiefdom and nobody can challenge their authority on this oppressed land. "It is shocking to note that after his menacing utterances at Chrar-e-Sharief, were Dr Abdullah threatened to jail the agitated Kashmiri youth, PDP workers and separatist leaders if he came to power, he has now extended his jail-bharo threat to not only some officers in the civil and police administration, but even to the common people who, he (Dr Abdullah) is now sure, have en masse voted for PDP," he said.
Describing Dr Abdullah's latest remarks as an outburst of frustration, desperation and nervousness, Karra said while he is open to any public scrutiny as far as his assets are concerned - declared as well in his affidavit before the Election Commission - he would appreciate if Abdullah's also come out honestly and openly with their overt and covert assets. "Let's leave aside the Abdullah's assets in cash and kind worth thousands of crores at Bhatindi, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Cyprus, Europe and USA, the people of Kashmir would like to know from Dr Abdullah just about how and from where his family got the property worth hundreds of crores at Gupkar and MA Roads," he said.
"Curiously, Dr Abdullah in his affidavit before the Election Commission has referred to only his own property worth Rs 10 crore, which as per reports has been grossly undervalued by him," Karra said and added that in his affidavit Dr Abdullah has tactfully avoided to disclose his assets outside the State and the country by stating that he has no exact account of the assets owned by his family outside the country. "I don't think a global hunt by even the most meticulous financial brains could get a thorough account of the vast assets accumulated by Dr Abdullah outside the State and the county," he said.
Karra said Dr Abdullah's interesting comments that even the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were playing fraud with NC as the votes polled to the party are going to PDP symbol, is the vivid acknowledgment of his party's imminent defeat. "I am sure the vote cast by Dr Abdullah would then also go to PDP as, not only the people even some divine intervention seems to be playing its role in favor of PDP in these elections," he said and added that, no surprise, Farooq Abdullah may even threaten to put all the EVMs behind the bars.
