Dr Banarsi Lal receives 'Best KVK Scientist Award'

REASI, Nov 9: Dr. Banarsi Lal, Sr. Scientist & Head of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has been awarded with the prestigious 'Best KVK Scientist Award' on the occasion of 7th International Conference on " Opportunities and Challenges in Agriculture, Environmental and Biosciences for Global Development (OCAEBGD-2022)" recently held at Conference Hall, St. Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre Cruz Dos Milagres, Old Goa,Goa. The conference was organised by the Agro Environmental Development Society (AEDS), Don Bosco College of Agriculture, Sulcorna, Goa, College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, India and School of Environment and Sustainable Development, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, India. The conference was attended by many eminent scientists, academicians and scholars across the globe. Dr.Banarsi got the prestigious award on the basis of his commendable contributions and meritorious achievements in the field of agriculture. The outstanding achievements and commitments of the scientist were genuinely considered by the esteem society (AEDS) for the coveted award. The panel considered Dr.Banarsi for the Best KVK Scientist Award on the basis of his research publications as first author, books as first author, book chapters as first author, success stories as first author, popular articles as first author, PI and Co-PI of Projects, case studies as first author, invited talks, consultancy services, SHGs/Farmers Clubs managed, research and extension technologies devised, refined and disseminated, organic and natural farming, lemongrass farming etc. Dr.Banarsi hails from Kathua district of J&K and has been working at KVK, Reasi for more than 15 years. He was the Gold Medalist during his master degree from Rajasthan Agriculture University (RAU) and his doctorate degree is from the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. It is worthwhile to mention here that Dr.Banarsi has developed an innovative Exponential Communication Model which is unique in itself to assess the communication behaviour of the farmers and has been appreciated at national and international level. Dr.Banarsi is upgrading the farming community with the new and innovative agricultural technologies. He is intended to develop agri-entrepreneurships among the rural youths of hilly areas. He has popularized many new agricultural innovations in the rain fed hilly areas of Reasi and Udhampur districts which are very useful to uplift the socio-economic status of the farmers. He has written more than 600 publications including the quality research publications papers in the reputed national and international journals. He has the distinction to win many national and international awards. Presently he is the member of many esteem professional societies.
