Director JKEDI reviews functioning of Regional campus, Centre for Women Entrepreneurship

JAMMU, Nov 9: Director Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Wednesday chaired a review meeting at the Institute's Jammu campus and Centre for Women Entrepreneurship. During the review meeting, the functioning of the Institute, progress made under different self-employment and entrepreneurship development schemes being implemented by the institute and other related issues were discussed threadbare.
The Director exhorted the Senior Faculty members, Vertical In-Charges and District Nodal Officers to double their efforts to reach out to the people. He said "Mass awareness in every area of the UT was a much needed requirement. Reaching out to far flung areas should be the priority."
The Director stressed on the need to liaison and enhance coordination with the line departments through constant feedback, so that a convergence of various government initiatives and schemes will benefit the youth. "JKEDI should be a single platform for counseling and guidance for the youth of the UT," he said and directed the officers and faculty members of the Institute to achieve 100 percent target in training youth, who are sponsored under various schemes of Mission Youth.
He further said that the Institute will come up with research based policy initiatives for identifying potential business activities that can act as an information bank for the youth to choose their business activity. This will provide impetus to the economy of J&K. The Institute will also gather information on various potential activities identified by organizations like NABARD and other similar organizations, he added.
"The current government under the leadership of Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha has been creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and our Institute can play a crucial role in guiding the youth of the Union Territory" he said. He said that people need to know about various government initiatives like incubation facilities, startup policy etc which will in turn facilitate local farmers, businessmen and community at large.
