11/9/2022 11:06:32 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 9: Today, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office conducted a successful Enforcement Search and Seizure operation at M/s AB Industries, Bari Brahmana as per the Food Safety and Standards (Food Product Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2020.
As per the FSSAI Regulations commercial feeds intended for Cattle shall comply with the Bureau of Indian Standards specification for Compounded Feeds for Cattle (IS 2052) and shall carry BIS certification mark on the labels of the products.
The Enforcement Raid was conducted by BIS JKBO team of Smt. Nisha Bura, Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Directors and Sh. Mahesh Chandra, SO. During the raid, substantial quantities of non ISI marked Cattle Feed was seized at the premises of M/s AB Industries where non ISI Cattle Feed was being manufactured and packed.
Action is being initiated by BIS JKBO against the offenders under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016. The offence is punishable with imprisonment up to two years or a fine not less than two lakhs or both as per BIS Act 2016.
It has been observed many times that fake/non ISI marked products are manufactured and sold to common consumers for huge profit keeping their health and safety at stake.
Consumers are therefore requested to purchase authentic ISI Marked products only.
In case of any instance of misuse of ISI Mark or any other issue, complaints can be easily registered on BIS Care App. BIS is further planning to conduct a crackdown on such fake/non ISI mark product manufacturing units to protect the interest of consumers.
