Vertical Interaction Course on smart policing commences

JAMMU, Nov 9: Today 03 days Vertical Interaction Course on "SMART POLICING" commenced in which 31 Police officers of the ranks Dy.SP to SSP are participating.
Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director S.K Police Academy was the chief guest in the inauguration session. Mohan Lal, JKPS, SSP, Deputy Director Trainings welcomed the chief guest. He informed that the theme of the course was envisioned by our Prime Minister Narinder Modi Ji in the conference of heads of State/UT and central Police organizations at Guwahati in 2014 and since then the subject is being reviewed in every year's DGP/IGP conference. As such occupies the core of the agenda of various training courses.
In his inaugural address Garib Dass, IPS, ADGP, Director of the academy welcomed the guest speaker Gulzar Singh Slathia IPS, former IGP, the participants and threadbare explained the acronym forming the theme of the course. He spoke that crime in virtual space is increasing linearly. The situation demands that the law enforcing agencies have to be tech savvy. There are 67 crore network users in India and in a couple of years the numbers will snowball to 99 crores which gives us fair idea of flux of network activities, obviously the crime in cyber space. He said that there are number of hackers all over the globe, capable of hacking Air Traffic Control, Railways operations, Electrical grids, Defence equipment and many more systems. He cautioned that in case we do not catch up the fast changing technology, the criminals and the enemy agents will be in complete control of the situation. He also gave an overview of internal security threats from terrorism, Narco Terrorism, Soft Skills, Vulnerable groups women, Children and the elderly, importance of intelligence collection etc. as these encompass the agenda of the course. Laid emphasis on capacity building of the members of J&K Police. He was optimistic that at the end of the course, the participants well feel rich in knowledge and advised them to develop peer groups back home.
The session was also attended by faculty member. The course is being coordinated by Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, SP, DD Outdoor training and Shri Sunmati Gupta, Dy.SP, AD (Q).
