Govt Degree College Thannamandi organized One Day Virtual National Science Conference

Thannamandi, Nov 10: Department of Geography, Govt. Degree College Thannamandi organized One Day Virtual National Science Conference today on 10th of November 2022 On the Theme “Science for Sustainable Living”. Large numbers of Professors, Academicians, Researchers, Thinkers, Planners, and student have participated from different parts of country and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The Department of Geography has received nearly 300 registrations from almost all the states of India and some delegate from South Africa and other countries of the world. The conference was conducted in three different sessions which include reporting and inauguration, technical session for key note and invited talks and valedictory session. The first session of the conference was conducted by Prof. Ajaz Nazir, Head, Department of Physics, GDC Thannamandi.
Dr. Khalid Rayaz, Head Department of Geography, GDC Thannamandi and Organizing Secretary of the Conference formally welcome the delegates, speakers and other participants and highlighted the importance of Science for Sustainable Living being organized on International Science Day. Principal of the College Dr. Farooq Ahmed inaugurated the event with his inaugural address and stress upon the use of science and technology for sustainable development.
Dr. Rameshwar Prasad Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Geography, Awadhi Bihari Singh College Bihar, Bihar was the key note speakers on the occasion who talked about the status and importance of Science for sustainable living in the present scenario. Dr. Khalid Z. Masoodi from Division of Plant Biotechnology, SKUAST Kashmir was one of the invited speakers who stress upon use of Biotechnological Innovations that leads to entrepreneurship in the world. However, Dr. Karthika Krishnan, Government College Kariavattom, Kerala University (Kerala) talked about Modelling Deformation of Stream Corridors for the Sustainable Restoration of Drainage System. In her presentation she has suggested certain methodologies for restoring the drainage system of any area. Dr. Rajinder Singh Chark, Department of Geography, University of Jammu, Jammu (J&K) has presented his talk on understanding the role of Geoinformatics for Sustainable Living in much changing world.
