DFCO conducts special surveillance on packaged spices, condiments | | | Early Times Report DODA, Nov 11: Food Safety, DFCO Doda has launched a district wide Surveillance in compliance to the directions of Commissioner, FDA, J&K regarding checking of packaged Commodities including Spices and Condiments. The teams of Enforcement Officers led by the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety and accompanied by Food Safety Officers took random samples of Spices and Condiments of different categories and Brands across the District. The teams lifted 15 samples for analysis which would be sent to National Food Lab Ghaziabad under FSSA for quality check. The move has come ahead of another special drive on Trans fats being launched through FSSAI across the Country including UT of J&K. The FSSAI regulations prohibit the sale of powdered Spices and Condiments in loose form. It also prohibits the sale of Compounded asafetida exceeding one 1kg in weight except in prescribed containers with proper labelling. The drives covering all the Food Commodities shall continue to map the market Surveillance and ensure safe, pure, quality and wholesome food items to the Consumers and public in General.
